What is a triple monitor KVM switch?
A triple monitor KVM switch is a device that allows users to connect and control multiple computers with three monitors through a single keyboard, video, and mouse setup. It enables seamless switching between the connected computers and extends the desktop across all three monitors.
With the iDock D23i, all three monitors always switch together along with the mouse and keyboard. It does not support partial switching — you cannot have 2 monitors on one PC and 1 monitor on the other at the same time.
What is with 2x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI in KVM switch?
A DisplayPort KVM switch is a device that enables users to connect and control multiple computers with DisplayPort connections using a single keyboard, video, and mouse setup. It allows for easy switching between the connected computers and provides high-quality video and audio transmission. It is not possible to use HDMI adapter at in our out of kvm-switch.
Only from a PC with no HDMI, you can use an adapter cable to the HDMI channel of the kvm-switch. The monitor must have a HDMI in at HDMI level of kvm-switch.
Does this device support hotkey switching?
No. The iDock D23i does not support hotkey switching, but you can easily switch between PCs using the front-panel button or the included wired remote.
Does iDock-D23i support G-Sync, FreeSync or VRR?
The iDock D23i supports G-Sync, FreeSync and VRR for smooth gaming and graphics performance.
Is there any compression on the video output?
It provides uncompressed video output, ensuring maximum image quality.
Does iDock-D23i support EDID emulation?
iDock D23i does not support EDID emulation. Generally there is only hotplug EDID transmission by using any DP in a kvm-switch.
Does iDock-D23i support ultra-wide monitors?
Yes. The iDock D23i supports ultra-wide resolutions, including 3440×1440 up to 240Hz and 3840×1440 up to 240Hz.
What speeds are supported by the USB hub and SD card slot on iDock-D23i?
USB Hub: Three USB 3.0 ports, each supporting speeds of up to 5 Gb/s. Faster USB 3.x Gen 2 speeds are not supported.
SD Card Slot: Supports SDXC cards with speeds up to 104 MB/s (UHS-I) and maximum capacity of 2 TB. UHS-II is not supported.Yes. The iDock D23i supports ultra-wide resolutions, including 3440×1440 up to 240Hz and 3840×1440 up to 240Hz.
Does iDock-D23i work with a computer and a laptop?
Not directly. The iDock D23i is designed specifically for two desktops. Each computer needs to connect via 2 DisplayPort cables and 1 HDMI cables.
By use a docking-station like KD-S03, you can connect 2x DP, 1x HDMI, 1x USB to iDock-D23i and only 1x USB-C to your laptop.
What is the difference between the iDock-D23 and the iDock-D23i?
A: Both devices are designed to switch between two desktop computers. The key differences are:
- Desktop Video Interface: iDock D23i supports desktops with 2×DP + 1×HDMI outputs, while iDock D23 supports 3×DP outputs.
- Hotkey Switching: iDock D23i does not support hotkey switching (but all kind of keyboard and mouse), while iDock D23 does.
- Wired Remote Controller: The controller is included in the iDock D23i package, but not included with the iDock D23.
