Note: For technological reasons, DP adapters and DP adapter cables only work directly on the DP graphics cards, as they have a chipset integrated into them that tells the multi-signal-capable DP graphics card to send an HDMI protocol. However, any normal DP KVM switch can only transmit the DP protocol. So an HDMI adapter behind a KVM switch has no function.
Steps to connect a dual monitor KVM switch with Displayport
This DP KVM switch has DP + USB ports for 2 computers. In order not to affect the extended display functions, each computer requires 2 DisplayPort cables + 1 USB cable for connecting KVM switches.
- Step 1: Connect 2 DisplayPort cables + 1 USB3.0 cable between Computer 1 and KVM switch (USB 1, INPUT A1, INPUT B1).
- Step 2: Connect 2 DisplayPort cables + 1 USB3.0 cable between Computer 2 and KVM switch (USB 2, INPUT A2, INPUT B2).
- Step 3. Connect two DisplayPort cables between the KVM switch (OUT A, OUT B) and two monitors.
- Step 4: Connect your USB device (keyboard and mouse) to the USB port of the KVM switch. You can connect up to 4 USB 3.0 devices at the same time. Compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 devices.
- Step 5. Plug the wired remote control into the “SELECT” port to switch freely between PC1 and PC2.
